0.5 contact hour of continuing nursing education credit is available for this course, Wound Care Part 3: Types of Wounds (w/Video)

When it comes to chronic wound management, there are many modalities available ranging from simple dressings to specialized equipment. While systemic causes must be controlled throughout wound care, this webinar will focus on the treatment of lesions.

Since the goal of wound treatment is to quickly return the patient to their highest level of health and function possible, deciding how to care for the wound can be complex.

To carefully choose course of treatment consider:
• Purpose of intervention
• Cause of lesion
• Lesion location & depth
• Odor & pain
• Infection
• Other patient-related issues (level of activity & mobility, nutritional/mental status, state of incontinence)

Learning Objectives

After completing this course, the learner should be able to:

• Choose appropriate treatment modalities based on wound type and goal(s) for treatment
• Describe and perform appropriate wound bed preparation
