This Capital Nursing Education Conference is sponsored by Shield HealthCare. The conference targets clinicians interested in wound, ostomy, and continence issues, and will further update their skill set in caring for these patients.  The program will also highlight the vital role of the Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nurse as a member of the healthcare team. Topics covered include:

• Identify three (3) factors in selection of appropriate candidates to learn colostomy irrigation techniques
• List two (2) objectives when selecting a pouching system for an ostomy
• Explain the difference between acute and chronic full thickness wounds

• Describe the differences between the three types of wound closure
