Our OstomyLife community has been growing rapidly on our community page and social media sites and we want to get to know our amazing community members! Send us your story and any other information to ostomylife@shieldhealthcare.com and we will share different community members’ stories on our social media and community pages!

Laura has shared her battle with ulcerative colitis and her ostomy experiences, but there are so many different diagnoses that can lead to ostomy surgery, and everyone’s experiences with a stoma are different. The more stories we share, the more we can provide support to those who may be facing a decision about whether or not to have the surgery.

Suggested information to send:

  • Name
  • Tell us your story – with as many details as you’re comfortable with
  • What life looks like after ostomy surgery
  • Any other information you’d like to share

Our Ostomy Lifestyle Specialist, Laura Cox, is herself an ostomate, so most articles written by her are based on her experiences as an ostomate. You may find our articles about support and coping after surgery helpful: http://www.shieldhealthcare.com/community/ostomylife/2014/06/04/support-coping-ostomy-surgery/ Best of luck, and please let us know if you have any questions! -Aimee, Shield HealthCare
