In 1999, Aaron Baker was in an accident that left him with a spinal cord injury. In this third video in our series about getting around in a wheelchair in different metropolitan areas, Aaron explores the public transportation scene using a wheelchair in Seattle, Washington.
Aaron’s trip starts at the Sea-Tac Airport, south of downtown. He boards a Link Light Rail directly from the airport and heads to Pioneer Square. From there he checks out Pike Place Market and adds to the gum wall. Then (after some steep hills) he boards the South Lake Union Streetcar to check out the quieter side of Seattle, before rolling onto the monorail for a trip to the Space Needle. Aaron’s last public transportation for the day is the ferry to Bainbridge Island. There’s much more packed into the day, so be sure to watch!

I think it is really wonderful how you are getting around. I am in a wheelchair so I know the everyday challengers we all go thru. I was wondering do you have the electric power wheel in the back of your chair to help you? My arms, shoulders and hands are really killing me now. It’s becoming to much to roll like you.
