Company Background
Shield Healthcare was established in 1957 as a specialty pharmacy. Over the years Shield has expanded to four locations in
California, one in Colorado, one in Washington and one in Illinois. In 1982, Shield was purchased by C. R. Bard, a medical device manufacturer.
Then in September 1990, Shield was purchased a second time, by Kobayashi Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., a pharmaceutical
manufacturer and distributor. In November 2006, Shield's Executive Management Team formed a company called Dharma Ventures
Group and acquired a controlling interest in the company from Kobayashi. With 50 years of pharmacy and medical supply
experience, Shield has become an industry leader in home-delivered Incontinence, Urological, Ostomy, Enteral Nutrition, and Diabetic Supplies.
Company Solutions
With over 2,500 items, Shield Healthcare offers a large selection of disposable medical products. We specialize in billing third-party insurance carriers, including Medicare, state Medicaid programs, HMOs, and private insurance plans. With our unique "Telecare" and "Clickcare" program, Shield ensures that customers have the supplies they need, when they need them.
We examine each order for compliance with carrier requirements, prescriptions, authorizations, documentation, quantities, and eligibility. We also control the quality of service customers receive by providing all employees with an initial comprehensive training program along with product and service training sessions throughout their employment. To ensure that our customers are always #1, we conduct additional monitoring to identify further training needs.
In addition, Shield customers are surveyed annually to evaluate employee performance in many areas. Each year the results are analyzed and published to ensure that service levels remain high and customer needs are continually met. Year after year customers overwhelmingly state that they would recommend Shield to someone in need.
Company Mission
Shield Healthcare is a service organization dedicated to fulfilling the medical supply needs of consumers and the caregiving community with a focus on customer satisfaction and employee achievement.
