Assessing a wound is more than just observing the lesion. Wound assessment is a holistic approach to care that identifies systemic, psychosocial and local factors that may precipitate a wound or hinder its healing.
It is critical that the patient with a wound be carefully and properly evaluated so risk factors can be taken into consideration when planning wound care. In this course, you will learn about the importance of performing a medical and psychosocial history, learn how to perform a complete physical exam and wound evaluation, and assess and monitor wound complications.
Learning Objectives
After completing this course, the learner should be able to:
- Describe the importance of performing a medical and psychosocial history, and be able to do so.
- Perform a complete physical exam of a patient with a wound.
