Infection Control in Healthcare: Precautions

“Hospital-associated infections (HAIs) affect one patient in every 20 admissions, kill 100,000 individuals a year, and cost $45 billion.”

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA),  the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) have all developed precautions to prevent and control the spread of infectious disease. It is important for healthcare professionals to understand and practice these precautions to keep themselves, coworkers, and patients safe. This course will discuss how to prevent the spreading of dangerous organisms in the hospital setting.
