Is It Pressure? Identifying Pressure Injuries

For anyone who missed our recent “Identifying Pressure Injuries: Assessment and Staging” webinar, presented by Nancy Morgan, RN, BSN, MBA, WOC, WCC, DWC, OMS of the Wound Care Education Institute (WCEI), you can find the recording, webinar outline and wound identification cheat sheet below! If you’d like to receive CE credit for watching this webinar, please scroll down below the video and read the instructions (please do so before watching the video).*

In this webinar, we discuss how identifying the incorrect etiology of a wound can delay healing, waste money or even get health care professionals in trouble. Watch the video below to learn how to differentiate between pressure and other wounds including: moisture associated skin damage (MASD), diabetic foot ulcers, mucosal pressure ulcers, suspected deep tissue injury or bruise, friction, and split gluteal fold or skin tear.

You can find a detailed outline of the “Identifying Pressure Injuries” webinar here.

You can find the Wound Identification Cheat Sheet here.

*To receive CE Credit for watching this webinar, first head over to the Wound Care Education Institute’s site. You cannot receive credit by watching the video above.

At the WCEI site, you can register and then view the recorded webinar. On the first page, you will notice that it says receive the CE credit is $10. For viewers coming through Shield HealthCare, we are able to offer a special code that will waive that fee. The code is: SHIELDWEB

After you have created an account and used the above code, you will be able to watch the video for free. After viewing, WCEI will email an evaluation to you. Once they complete the evaluation, your CE will be emailed to you automatically.

  1. Thank you so much for simplifying this subject, bringing it to caregivers in easy-to-understand terminology. Deeply appreciated.

  2. I had signed up for the webinar ID of Pressure Ulcers by Nancy Morgan, but got called into work and unable to participate at that time. I have since listened to the video and reviewed the written info (thanks so much for including all types of wounds as well as pressure ulcers). I do not see how to get the CEU for us “after the fact” people. Please advise. PS – Enjoyed it, some good information.

    1. Hi Deborah, Thank you for your question! To receive CE credit, you will need to visit the Wound Care Education Institute’s (WCEI) registration page here: http://www.wcei.net/code/webinar/webinardetail.asp?id=285. From there, you can register and view/listen to the webinar on their website. Please use this code when registering so that you can watch it for free: SHCW16

Afterwards, WCEI will email a brief evaluation to you. Once you complete the evaluation, WCEI will email you the CE credit automatically. We would love to be able to provide you with CE credit directly, however WCEI is the accrediting body and needs for you to complete this process on their website. This is only because the webinar has already passed. The recording is posted on our website purely for educational purposes.

I’m glad you enjoyed the presentation and found some of the information useful. Please join us for future webinars! Our 2016 schedule will be posted very soon at: shieldhealthcare.com/webinars.
