National Breast Cancer Awareness Month is designed to educate women about the importance of early detection.

Thankfully, increased public awareness of regular mammograms to detect breast cancer in its earliest stages has contributed to a decline in breast cancer deaths.

More about breast cancer:

All women are at risk for breast cancer. The risk of getting breast cancer increases as you age. Most breast cancers and breast cancer deaths occur in women age 50 and older. No matter how old you are, you should become familiar with how your breasts look and feel. Daily self-examination is highly recommended by health care professionals. Unusual changes in size, shape or texture should be reported to your doctor as soon as possible.
