Did you know October 6 is World Ostomy Day and Ostomy Awareness Day? While every day is ostomy day at Shield HealthCare, we’d like to commemorate individuals who have had this life saving surgery and the caregivers who help those in need of daily support.
Things to do on World Ostomy Day:
- Visit the United Ostomy Associations of America’s website at ostomy.org for a list of activities, resources and local support groups that meet regularly
- Enter Hollister’s “Let’s Be Heard” World Ostomy Day Photo Contest
-Twelve winning photographs will be featured in the 2013 World Ostomy Day calendar
-In addition, the winners will receive a certificate of recognition and $250 for their International Ostomy Association (IOA) Member local support group
-All participating IOA Member local support groups will receive a CD-ROM of the winning photographs
- Visit Shield HealthCare’s online ostomy community blog at shieldhealthcare.com for resources, helpful articles and advice for managing your ostomy
