Safe Toys & Gifts MonthNational Safe Toys and Gifts Month

This December, Shield HealthCare encourages everyone to observe National Safe Toys and Gifts Month. Hospital emergency rooms treat more than 250,00 toy-related injuries in the United States each year. National Safe Toys and Gifts Month is a project led by Prevent Blindness America to help families keep safe toy guidelines in mind when buying and accepting toys for children.

Aplastic Anemia and MDS WeekDecember 1st-7th: Recognizing Aplastic Anemia and MDS Week

Aplastic anemia is a very rare bone marrow failure disease. Approximately 600 to 900 people in the U.S. are diagnosed with aplastic anemia each year. Blood cells, which are created by bone marrow, are critical to supplying oxygen to our organs, fighting off infection and clotting our blood. People with aplastic anemia may have significant fatigue, recurring fevers and persistent bladder infections.

2013 Caregiver Story Contest Update13th Annual Caregiver Story Contest Update

Shield HealthCare’s 13th Annual Caregiver Story Contest has officially ended. November 30th marked the final day of submissions for Shield HealthCare’s “What Makes Caregiving Rewarding?” Caregiver Story Contest, which recognizes the demanding roles and responsibilities of today’s caregivers. A special thank you to all the dedicated caregivers who shared their stories this year!

  1. I would like to received the monthly newsletter each month. I find it interesting and can identify with other caregiver trials and tribulations. Knowing that there are others in the same situation helps me to have hope. Hang in there all caregivers…
